Shedding light in the Rabbit Hole
A conversation starter, a keepsake for observations, ideas, inspirations, memes, metaphors & tales, whisperings on learning, on different (critical) literacies, on revolutionizing education, on sustainable development, on societal life and critical social research, on "futures", on worldviews, on change & transformations, on diversity, social justice and emanicipations, on all the subjects that fascinate me, on beautiful things: books I love/read/want to read: stories that take me away, on music, poetry and art.
{shining & glittery rays of light} (an unending collection of interesting postmodern memes to use in the classroom)
My attempt to look for meaningful (yet at first look 'far fetched') patterns? Or just simple my way of shining some light in the rabbit hole. But most important an attempt to connect with other souls who are enjoying the fall down the rabbit hole as well...
" (...) and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it [the white rabbit], and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge. In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again..." (Lewis Carroll)

You are part of the system! Change it…
I normally don’t use my tumblr to vent out, but considering the issue I will have to do this to get on with my day in a far from peaceful way, but at least I will do my best. The issue is the SYSTEM.
Okay, that’s a very broad concept, which system? As a system thinker (I believe that everything is connected to each other, we are all part of interlinked systems, and that one move triggers movement in all the connections. Just as when you throw a stone in a river, there will be ripples elsewhere.
The system I’m referring to at this moment, is the government where I work, I’m part of this system. First I have to point out some barriers I had to break to even post this online: as a public servant you are not allowed to criticize your system, let me rephrase this, or you may do that since you are part of a democracy, but you ARE NEVER ALLOWED to question this publicly. This is what I call false professional ethics, because first of all as a public servant you are not here to defend the system or your specific organization that is part of the system, but you are here to serve the common good.
I understand that the system doesn’t work like it is supposed to, I understand that we are trying to become more efficient everyday, and this is possible if you consider that we are part of a living system! People: the system is alive, it consists of people breathing and information (and other goods) that flow! The system is not an abstract “far from my bed show” kind of thing, it is a dynamic entity, and if you want to change the system, you can not accept its faults as a given fact, you are part of the faults and you are a valuable contribution to the solutions. I detest conformity, I see conformity as one of the weakest characteristics of humans. We can’t evolutionize if we don’t question and don’t act, and if we see ourselves as a disintegrated part of the system and just keep on blaming it: we are disintegrating ourselves of everything. We have to believe in the power of individuals, in the collective wanting to rise up and take up responsibilities towards progress. Otherwise its a fake progress.
YOU ARE THE SYSTEM, do you get it, don’t just blame it on that freaking system, you are part of it, take responsability
And yes, I have to vent this out….
Because some people just say: that’s the system, live with it!
